An Inopportune Truth

Never before I felt like that. Calling all my relatives and friends back home to ask if they are safe. 13 blasts, 6 minutes, 4 cities which took the toll of 65+ lives so far and 400+ injured. The problem which was till now ignored by Indian Government as a regional problem has finally shocked everyone. One day or the other it was bound to happen. Islamic Terrorism has finally proved its grip in this part of the country too. Till a few years ago, illegal migrants from Bangladesh was responsible for changing the demography of the North Eastern states of India, and our fucking government was turning a blind eye to it (as those migrants proved to be a large vote bank for them). But in the process, the whole country's security is in stake now. Studies say that in Assam alone, Muslim population grew by 75% in past 10 years, while the growth in Hindu and other religions is only 47%. And, illegal immigration being there for past 15 years or so, it is now impossible to distinguish between indigenous Muslims and Muslims who have migrated from Bangladesh. The aftermath is, people who were called majority till yesterday, are facing an identity crisis today. If we take just the case of Assam, people of Assam, its fucked up government, government at the center, security agencies all are equally responsible for this. ULFA (United Liberation Front of Asom), the so called care taker of Assamese people till few years back has now sold off the security, sovereignty and identity of Assam to Bangladesh. Bangladesh, which will be a second Afganistan in a few years (thanks to the wide spread Talibanism), will prove to be a major security threat to Assam and India as a whole. Yesterday's serial blasts was just a trailer. While, other parts of the country watched blasts with amonium nitrate, it was RDX in Assam. I have personally known, how the indeginous people of Assam are facing a threat to their property and lives from illegal migrants. But, everybody including me are sleeping. May be 200 years from now, our descendents have to fight for independence from Islamic Rule, like we did for freeing ourselves from British. Bad days are ahead for all of us ... looks pessimistic but thats the truth.

The White Tiger

Few days back I bought The White Tiger by Arvind Adiga. This year's The Man Booker Prize winner. Read just around 50 pages till now and I loved it. The plot of the story is about a not so known yet successful entrepreneur Balram Halwai naratting his story of life to Wen Jiabo - premier of People's Republic of China. Over course of seven nights, he narrates his journey of life starting from the darkness of his village to being an entrepreneur in. Story of two Indias - The Dark India and India Shining. I am thinking to finish reading it in the Diwali vacation; and I know it will be a nice treat for the mind & soul.

Oh.. Jesus, Rama, Allah... Please Come Back

Darkness coming around,
And every body fight with the brother
Every body wants control,
Don't hesitate to kill one-another

So come back as Jesus
Come back and save the world
Bless all the future of every boy and girl
Come back as Rama,
Forgive us for what we've done
Come back as Allah,
Come back as anyone

Religion is the reason,
The world is breaking up into pieces
Colour of the people,
Keeps us locked in hate please release us

So Come down and help us,
Save all the little ones
They need a teacher,
And you are the only one
We can't rely on,
To build a better world
A world that's for children,
A world that's for everyone

Time is healer, and time moves on
Time don't wait for any one
So, Tell me you'll be back
But that will take some time
I waiting ...... I'm waiting......

Come back as Jesus
Come back and save the world
We need a teacher,
and You are the only one
Come back as Rama
Forgive us for what we've done
Come back as Allah
Come back for every one.......

Where is the LOVE ?

A SONG, VERY MUCH CONTEXT SENSITIVE TO
ALL THE PROBLEMS WE ARE FACING

ISLAMIC TERRORISM, ATROCITIES AGAINST THE CHRISTIANS,
MARATHI - NORTH INDIAN ENMITY,
ETHNIC VIOLENCE,
HATRED AMONG PEOPLE, BLOODSHED, EYE FOR AN EYE ATTITUDE

What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah
Madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love ???

It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the love, y'all

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love ???

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our wrong direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema
Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality
Instead in spreading love we spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down
There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under
Gotta keep my faith alive till love is found

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love ???

A Year Which Went Wrong ...

October, November & December are the the most lively months of a year, particularly in this part of the world. Dussera, Id, Diwali, Christmas and finally New Year. More than one reason to feel happy and enjoy to heart's content. But, this year... I was just wondering, where is all the fun and enthusiasm !!! Recession, Market Crash, Lay Offs, Inflation, Ethnic Violence are something which are ruling everyday lives of people. There is no exuberance to celebrate. Although, I usally see the dark sides of something more than its lighter sides, but I guess I am not at all exaggerating by saying that something is missing this festive season. Although, we celebrate all these occasions to forget the pains of life, but 2008 was a year which went wrong and will leave the scar in everyones' lives one way or the other

Hindi Power Ballad ???

Power Ballad in Hindi ? Sounds very rare. But, if asked, I will put the song tum ho toh from the movie Rock On as a power ballad. Tum Ho Toh has that soft tempo with a rock touch which makes it truly a power ballad. The lyrics of the song adds up to its genre. After watching the movie, I am listening to this all over again.

tum ho toh
gaata hai dil
tum nahin
toh geet kahan
tum ho toh
hai sab haasil
tum nahin toh kya hai yahan
tum ho toh hai
sapnon ke jaisa haseen ek samaa

jo tum ho toh
ye lagta hai
ki mil gayee har khushi
jo tum na ho
ye lagta hai
ke har khushi mein hai kamee
tum ko hai maangti
ye zindagiii…..

tum ho toh
raahein bhi hain
tum nahin
toh rastey kahan
tum ho toh
yahan sab hi hain
tum nahin
toh kya hai yahan
tum ho toh hai har
ek pal meherbaan ye jahaan

jo tum ho toh
hawa main bhi
mohabbaton ka rang hai
jo tum na ho
toh phir koi
na josh na umang hai
tum mille toh milli
ye zindagiii…..

The Spirit of "Magik"

"Magik" - the rock band featured in the movie Rock On. Finally, I got the chance to watch it and it made me spellbound. Heard a lot of good previews about it, but all that was said was just a simple part of it. A great movie, perfect theme and very refreshing. Soundtracks are fantastic. I could find the touch of two of my favorite movies , Dil Chahta Hain & Jhankar Beats. Rock - whoever gets the taste of it - knows what it is. For all others, its just noise and screams. All in all, Rock On is a hail for the greatest religion in this world - Music.

All Those Hi-Tech Jihadi(s)...

Few days back, Mumbai police busted a terror wing by arresting some members of Indian Mujaheddin, one of them involved in sending terror emails. The man behind those terror emails was a resident of Pune, a principal software engineer employed by Zimbra, a Yahoo Company. He was earning a handsome salary of 19 lacs p.a, belonged to a highly educated family, a topper of 1998 batch of VIT, Pune and a very good chess player. A simple Google search shows how he was a linux expert, proficient in web technologies, http protocol, proficient in python, ruby and above all, he had an in depth knowledge of nginx (http://nginx.net/). Nginx is a light weight HTTP server and mail proxy server, written by a Russian engineer Igor Sysoev. His resume will be impressive enough to attract any employer. But, probably this is the end of his career. A wastage of the God gifted talent in the name of God or, for achieving virgins (houris) in the so called Jannat ? Kill innocent people ... Khuda Ke Liye !!! Whatever this guy get in Jannat; its of no use now, because his present life is gone. He has betrayed his family, friends and all his near and dear ones. I wonder how his colleagues in office, all those persons whose technical queries he used to answer in various forums must have felt when he was caught killing innocent people. His 31 years of life got wasted, and even if he gets bail or get freed from the law, he should kill himself. No one in this society or in this country want people like him. He is a shame for his community. Because of people like him, his community's name is maligned. If he really wanted to do something for the welfare of his community, he would have never engage himself in all those inhuman and anti social activities.
If Khuda also sees you (and people like you) from above, he will also feel embarrassed because he created you for a good cause, not for killing people. You just misused your gifted talent. Shame On You ... On another note, you have traduced the name of a noble profession. Software professionals will be tagged with another tag from now onwards, for the filthy deeds of you. Shittt...

an unanswered question...

referring to my previous post about asking people to "Say No To Fire Crackers", I can tell people that I myself don't buy fire crackers and am actually opposed to it. And burning fire crackers have nothing to do with religion. Our religion never teach us to do air and noise pollution, irritate our pets, the animals and birds around us. And when people are making so much hue and cry for global warming, where does their concern goes when they actually light a fire cracker? It's an unanswered question and will never be answered in a hypocrite Indian society. Many people just give a reason that Diwali comes once in a year, and compared to the enormous air, water and noise pollution which our environment is facing everyday, pollution caused by fire crackers in Diwali is negligible. Well, that's the silliest reason anybody can give. But I feel, I can contribute 0.000000001% to this cause by saying no to fire crackers. But when some people asks me, "You say a lot about animals, your love for animals. Where does your animal love goes when you eat non-vegetarian foods ?" It comes as a bolt from the blue specially when asked by a vegetarian person !!! I literally have no answer to it. I am saying no to fire crackers, I will be happy if people also finds the good reasons behind it and follow it.

that's called melody

I am a great fan of Mohit Chauhan's voice since my teenage days. I loved his 1st album when he was a member of the band called Silk Route. Really loved his under water song "Dooba Dooba", aired in DD Metro every now and then. Infact all the songs of that album was great. "Boondein", "Humsafar", "Paheli", "Mermaid"... wow what a melody !!! The other album of Silk Route, Pehchaan is also my favorite. "Sapnay (Ek Pal)" and "Lullaby" are truly mesmerizing. His voice has such a depth which can actually touch your heart. This depth can be felt to a deeper extent when you are high in spirit. "Khoon Chala [from Rang De Basanti]" and "Guncha Koi [from Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh]" are two such soul touching numbers... "Tum Se Hi [from Jab We Met]" is another greatest hit, which can imbibe romance into the most pragmatic and unromantic heart. "Yaad Teri Aaye [from Ugly Aur Pagli]", "Ek Meetha Marz De Ke [from Welcome to Sajjanpur]" and "Is This Love [from Kismat Konnection]" are his other melodic numbers. And his latest "Aankhon Hi Aankhon Mein [from EMI]" and "Kuch Khass [from Fashion]" gonna rock the hearts of the listeners who actually understand melody. Mohit's melody can be felt more in his unplugged numbers, when resonance of the guitar strings and his voice meet. Can't really explain, it can only be felt.

sapnay hein sooni raatein
jaane kyon kho gaye
socha tha.. sahil pe milega..
thehra saa ek pal ... ek pal

chandni hain ye ratein
phir bhi toote sitare
dhoondte hain yeh zameen pe
thehra saa ek pal ... ek pal

andheri daasta, kho gaye kahaan
ham to reh gaye.. phir wahein

aati hai ek sadaa... vadiyoon se kaheen
ajnabi rahon pe milega
thehra saa ek pal ... ek pal

andheri daasta, kho gaye kahaan
ham to reh gaye.. phir wahein

flashbacks of some missing feelings...

Durga Puja is just round the corner and I don't feel any special about it. These days I call it as Dassera rather than with the good old name Durga Puja. As far as I remember, when I was a kid, may be till my 6th standard, dad use to buy look alike clothes for me and my elder bro. Its a custom to get new clothes in Durga Puja. As four of us, myself, dada, mom and dad go to watch puja in a number of pandals around the town, people can actually recognize me and my brother as siblings, just from our clothes. Those days, I used to buy some big balloons, some water balloons (balloons with water inside, which can be played as a ping-pong ball) and a pistol. I remember, I along with my friends even used to play chor-police in the Puja-Mandaps with our pistols. Another attractions of Puja days were the various competitions organised by the Puja organizing committees. And we won many quizzes and all. Going to Pujas with parents continued till I was in my 9th standard or so. I still remember that I did not got to Puja when I was in my 10th. I was such a nerd those days and I utilized my Puja holidays by studying for my board exam. During my 10+2 days, I no longer went to Puja Pandals with parents but with my friends. Idea was "bird watching". Gosh, the girls will be in their best attires and look so stunning. Among all these, one main attraction of Durga Puja was the Khichdi of Laban Namghar Durga Puja. Wow, so yummy !!! I miss it so much. Days passed, and Durga Puja has now almost been forgotten. Dassera is just another holiday for me now. I really miss those feelings of my younger days and I know those are some time which got lost in the journey of life.

treat for the ears...

Usually whatever songs I write about in my blog becomes chart toppers. Life in a Metro, Jaane Tu ..Ya Jaane Na, Rock On .. are some examples. I know, my taste of music is good. This time I am writing about Karan Johar's Dostana. I love the song Jaane Kyun sung by Vishal Dadlani, of music directors duo Vishal-Shekhar fame and lead vocalist of the band Pentagram, infact he is the music director also. Other songs are also okay type. Should grip the mileage as more and more TV channels and FMs start playing them. The lyric of this song is too long to post it here. Jaane Kyun is a must listen to ... A feel good song with a sweet feeling of happiness.

Another movie, a Subhash Ghai musical to release soon is Yuuvraj. It has A.R Rehman's music, and I just can't wait to get hold of the music files. Should be another treat for the ears.

Remembering Him...

2nd October, a day when one of greatest human being ever was born in the soil of this country. But, 60 years after the birth of Independent India, this day is mostly remembered by an average Indian as yet another Holiday, as a dry day and this year the day has another significance of nationwide ban of smoking in public places. Gandhiji's visualization of Modern India nowhere exists. The child is grown now and the dream is gone. But life moves on. As we Indians take breath in this so called independent India, lets pay homage and gratitude to the Father of our Nation, atleast on the day of his Birthday.
